In 1776, our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. In signing this document each of them knew they risked being executed for standing up against Britain which had the strongest military force in the world by far! The “selfless” courage they demonstrated then allows each of us to live freely and prosperously in a democracy.
When you, Republicans in the U.S. Congress, knew that our democracy was facing a clear and present danger by Donald J Trump almost all of you did nothing to stop it. A good number of you poured gasoline on Trump’s fire and have continued to do so.
Shame on you. There are no excuses. None! You let down 325 million Americans.
The honorable exceptions are those Republicans who showed extraordinary courage and character in voting to impeach or convict Donald J Trump. Special honors go to the two Republicans who are leading the fight against Trump: Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. These two incredibly brave, high-integrity patriots will be gloriously recorded in history.
Congressional Republicans who did nothing to stop Trump will be recorded in history as treasonous cowards who only acted for their own preservation and power. This is particularly true of the “leaders” in the Senate and the House, Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy. You two “men” are a disgrace to our country and to the world. Especially you, Kevin. And Paul Ryan, you had a chance to organize an opposition against Trump before he was nominated and elected and you failed as well.
If you did nothing to stop Trump and protect our democracy, you violated your oath to the U.S. Constitution and acted only to save yourself and not our country. That’s disgraceful! This is the greatest dereliction of duty and cowardice in American history by members of the U.S. Congress that I know of. Imagine that legacy for yourselves and the Republican Party, for which you alone are responsible.
There will be no photographs, paintings, or statues of you in the U.S. Capital or anywhere on earth, except maybe in Russia, China, or North Korea.
You ladies and gentlemen, do not belong or deserve to be in the U.S. Congress now or ever.
Unite America and vote them out! We need men and women of solid character and integrity in both Parties of our government in Washington D.C. and in all 50 States.
